Premium Captains are rated the same 99 OVR as standard Captains, but the collection requirement is different — instead of a current 2026 squad, you're completing a specific squad from the 2002 World Cup. This gives Build A Soccer Squad Captains two separate completion tracks running at once: one rooted in current rosters, one rooted in football history, both landing at the same OVR tier.

Where Captains Fit in the Card Hierarchy

Captains sit between Prime cards (100+ OVR) and Cup cards (105+ OVR) — a strong, collection-based mid-tier chase.

Because Build A Soccer Squad Captains reward completing a themed squad, they naturally overlap with a Chemistry-focused build — a squad you're deliberately collecting for nation, club, or league links is often the same squad you're one or two players away from completing for a Captain unlock. Planning your Rerolls and Refreshes (see the current active codes) around a single target squad is the most efficient way to chase a Captain card.

Deciding Which Captain to Chase First
